Angelo came to this country in the late 1930’s, settling in New York. He has worked a lifetime making great pizza, first at pizza shops around the city and then at his own store, Pizza Chef, on Brooklyn’s Fulton Street. As time passed, Angelo lamented that there were only a handful of places left like his that made what he calls real pizza. “The crust has to be blackened and crisp! Only fresh mozzarella and tomatoes…!” he often exclaimed.

Angelo has passed on this genuine passion for pizza to the family’s next generations, as his children and nephews continue his tradition of excellent pizza making. Now, as his nephew John starts his own pizza restaurant, Angelo's, he pays homage to his uncle Angelo, who served as an pizza-making inspiration to them all.

I ordered a "fresh" beet salad with field greens and goat cheese. One would assume the beets would actually be fresh. Pickled beets on a salad?!!! Nastiness. Straight in the trash it went.

Pizza is usually good and hot. But tonight it arrived cold. Only 45 minutes after ordering.

My dish was SUPPOSED to be Melanzane Parmigiana Dinner Special. However it was SLOPPY OVER SAUCED & OVER COOKED Spaghetti with a small side of mushy eggplant covered in cheese. I also ordered Pasta e Fagioli but it tasted like burnt pork. I will never be convinced to order again. Perhaps I made bad choices! Also there was NO side of grated cheese. Usually thats standard!

Pizzas are good. Linguine with shrimp scamp were fattening'y delicious but fairly small portion. Too expensive!

Amazing pizza!

Terrible pizza. The prosciutto is not prosciutto and is basically pig lard. I asked for extra cheese (and paid for it) and got less than half the cheese of any other pizza. The crust is mostly burnt but the inside of the pizza is really undercooked. WIll never order from this place again.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.....I received a delivery from here 35 minutes ago, I ate 2 slices, noticed what looks like a fur ball on the opposite side of the pizza, and I had to then race to the bathroom and vomit for 15 minutes. I rang the restaurant immediately, was told the manager was busy standing out the front, and that he'd call me back. When he did, he was rude, accused me of lying, and then hung up on me. Luckily in between him calling me back I had already logged an official complaint with the Department of Health. Forget bad delivery times, if you want food poisoning try this place out. I have NEVER complained about a restaurant until now. An absolute disgrace. If I could select "No stars" in this rating i would but it won't let me.....!

One of my favorite pizza places in NYC. I always order the cheese pizza with extra mozzarella. The pasta dishes are also great.

Delivery was extremely slow, food was cold and inedible when it arrived. They sent a new one. Pizza was average at best.

Food was well prepared and tasty, but not over the top by any means. Delivery time was advertised at 45-60 mins, but it was closer to 90mins by time food finally arrived.

At it's best it's amazing, but it's streaky and often burnt

Pretty good pizza, but nothing stellar. I think the place is a bit overhyped, but overall not a bad place to order from.

Very good pizza, although it's a bit on the expensive side. Worth it if you want good pizza though. I'd skip on the calzones, too much cheese.

Very good... Took a little while, but great white pizza

Love the pizza and the siciliana salad (no anchovies though!)

When it's fresh, it's some of the best pizza in the neighborhood. When delivery times get long, the pizza tends to become unusually soggy. Though, really, it's still pretty good, even then. Pastas are fine, though not particularly stand-outs.

The pizza is terrific- crispy and not oily. However, the entree portions are so small for what they charge and they don't even include any bread. On the plus side delivery was quick- but very expensive for what you are getting.

Excellent pizza, fast delivery. Order confirmation said delivery would take 30 to 45 minutes - pizza was here in 10 minutes flat. This was around 1:30pm on a Thursday. (I tipped 20% - don't know if that made a difference. ) I ordered a small cheese pizza with mushrooms and olives. Ingredients were superb. Those reviewers complaining about the cheese apparently have never had real fresh full-moisture mozzarella on pizza before. Fresh basil leaves, delicious tomato sauce, crisp buttery crust (that, yes, was blackened on one side). As for the option toppings - fresh mushrooms and kalmata olives. Great place.

Order took over two hours, no notice of the additional time on the order. When estimated delivery time had past we called and they stated they were just starting to make the food. Would not recommend ordering from here.

Bad experience. Pizza was cold. It was colder than it would be after an hour of sitting on my kitchen counter. Also, the order was supposed to some in 30 minutes, but took 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Fast delivery but there was a long black hair baked in the pizza and I had to trow it away. Restaurant handled well, cancelled order and didn't charge me. However, I had to stay hungry for another 45 mins until next order (from another restaurant) arrived.

Pizza is delicious, but service is terrible. Late delivery and unhelpful staff when you call.

Chicken Parm "dinner" fills half of the round tin. Expect 1 small piece of chicken (ie the size of maybe 2 chicken fingers) and less than a handful of pasta.

I have never written a review before but I placed the order- deliv confirm was 15-30 mins. Waited an hour and 15 mins and called and she apologized and said it was going out in 10 mins (i live 2 blocks away), then I waited another half hour and she said they weren't sure if they had time to make my order............... are you kidding?

Good pizza but delivery times are long and the food is usually cold. FOr an expensive place it could have better service. That said, i heat up the pizza and love it.

Phenomenal pasta and pizza.

Delicious thin, chewy crust & well-sauced (but not drippy) pizza. Just enough cheese, and a nice selection of toppings, generously applied, but again, not too much or overdone. I'm a bit of a pizza snob, having lived in Rome, and this is excellent pizza. Delivery was very quick too.

GOOD PIZZZA

I don't mind paying $10 for a salad, but they will send you lettuce that is browning. They also called to tell me that their prices have increased, so the prices shown on seamlessweb are incorrect --- expect to pay more. And the spagetti with meatballs lacks any satisfying amount of spagetti. I won't return.

Really bad service, spend your money on one of the many superior pizza places in town. The pizza was fine, though the sausage was cheap and the crust burnt. As for the service, I requested regular tomatoes and they said this wasn't possible (even though I had ordered a caprese and knew they had regular tomatoes). They also don't have any breadsticks or garlic knots - what kind of a pizza place is this? Finally, one of our party is a vegetarian and wanted half sausage - every piece of pizza but 1 had sausage on it.

This was a terrible experience. The order came after the estimated delivery time and was ice cold. Nothing in the order was even remotely warm. When I called the restaurant, I was placed on hold for nearly 10 minutes while the hostess discussed this with the manager. They offered to send me a dessert, which I declined. When I asked for them to discount the order of even just the appetizer, they said they wouldn't do anything to resolve the matter. I will not order from Angelo's again.

I order frequently because the food is very good. I do not like that on the delivery receipt it states at the bottom, 17% gratuity. That is ridiculous for delivery when in a restaurant most people tip between 15-20%. I don't know the standard delivery tip for delivery but it is certainly not 17%.

I had high expectations after seeing the 5 stars and the good reports. I ordered pizza and it arrived within 20 minutes. HOWEVER - I do not understand why New Yorkers accept the poor excuse for cheese that is often used. The cheese on this pizza was that white, plastic, fake, cheap mozzarella that no matter how much you would chew it it would never disintegrate. This pizza went straight into the trash untouched. What a waste! ugh!

Food is always good. But when they are busy, expect to WAIT and have them NOT CARE that you wait. Unfortunately people think they can give bad customer service when their food is good.
